The Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba. It began as a Visigoth church; was destroyed and made into a Mosque (the third largest in the world) and after the reconquista, a gothic/renaissance church was built in the middle of the mosque. Pictures don’t do it justice, especially mine. The columns from the early arches were taken from the earlier Roman and Visigoth structures. The areas where the church melds into the mosque are in the Mudejar style – Christian works with a strong Muslim influence that appears throughout the Iberian Peninsula.
