Shazdeh Mahan Garden is a historical Persian garden located near (6 km away from) Mahan in Kerman province, Iran.

The garden was built for Mohammad Hasan Khan Sardari Iravani ca. 1850 on this site, and was entirely remodeled and extended around 1870 by Abdolhamid Mirza Naserodolleh during the eleven years of his governorship in the Qajar dynasty.

Shazdeh Garden was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in June 2011.

the Persians had developed a system of transporting water from underground acquirers to the surface called qanat. It was an elaborate system of tunnels which used gravity to help collect water from the different layers of the earth.

Water comes from one and only qanat/underground hand-digged water gallery. Inside Mahan water flow is a closed circuit.

Speacial element is the beauty of the fabulous garden in the middle of the desert. Armenia has amazing cultural heritage which differs from other cultures with its unique style but I don’t stop admiring historical places of the whole world.
