Pont du Gard

Constructions either above or under ground employed to conduct water. Aqueducts of Roman construction, some of which are still in existence, are absolute monuments of art, and in some cases harmonise wonderfully with the lines of the landscape.
🇹🇷 Su Kemeri
Su borularının basınca dayanıklı yapılamadığı dönemlerde kentin su ihtiyacını sağlayan suyolunun hep aynı yükseklikte ve çok az eğimli biçimde yapılması gerekirdi. Bu amaçla vadilerin aşılması gerektiğinde kemer dizilerince taşınan suyolları inşa edilmiştir. Köprüye benzeyen bu yapılara su kemeri adı verilir. İlk su kemerleri Antik Roma döneminde yapılmıştır.
