As part of our planning for convenient and sustainable mobility in Singapore, more jobs and amenities are being planned near homes, cutting commute time and making work and play more accessible for everyone.
For example, by 2040, residents in various neighbourhoods will be able to reach the nearest neighbourhood centre within 20 minutes. Some new neighbourhood centres that have opened in the last two years include Oasis Terraces at Punggol and Buangkok Square, which are new generation neighbourhood centres that feature community spaces while being conveniently located near transport links.
Other existing neighbourhood centres have also been refreshed, such as the Bukit Batok West Shopping Centre in the Jurong Lake area – it was revamped in 2016 and is the first neighbourhood centre with a community pavilion that features rooftop greenery, which helps lower the pavilion’s ambient temperature.
